Beauty in Biology
As a Biologist, I have come to love nature and the complexities of the earth. There is so much diversity, even in the heart of North Dakota, and I can't help but feel joy when I experience something new. My studies in Biology have also increased my wonder of the Creation of the world. God is such an artist, and I love taking part in the understanding of His organization through my work as a Biologist. In a way Biology is an art in itself. No wonder why painters create scenes of beautiful landscapes! The world is a beautiful place! Not only is biology a very interesting and diverse science, but it is always changing. The information we know changes from day to day, and it is constantly increasing. However, the more we find out it seems the less we know. If this doesn't motivate you to enter the biology world, then I don't know what would! I want answers! |
Beauty in Education
Education is such a crucial part of a student's life, and a student's teacher is the ultimate variable in the classroom. The relationships that a teacher has with his or her students is so beautiful. It is a relationship built on trust and nurtured with respect and generosity. My calling in education comes from my love of children, adolescents, and young adults. I feel like I can offer them some understanding about themselves while teaching them content necessary for further education. I promise to be a teacher who not only provides a student with knowledge, but can also be a model of respect, dignity, and personal success for my students.

Beauty in Biology Education
What draws me to Biology Education is my desire to open my student's eyes to the beauty of their world. I want my students to grow to understand themselves while growing to understand their surroundings. I also want them to look at the sciences with interest, rather than dread, which happens often when it comes to the sciences. To facilitate learning and interest, my Biology classroom will consist of hands-on activities that develop their content knowledge and creativity. Many activities will be approached with a Constructivist mindset, a learning theory that centers on making sure that the students have the tools they need to succeed and enjoy what they are doing. Women in Science A side note to my teaching philosophy is the importance of women in science. Men dominate the science world, and it is critical to broaden my student’s minds on the jobs possible for them (especially the young girls). Therefore, I will not only model the professional world of science, but I will also encourage their participation in the field. |
